An intimate experience for creatives from the film, advertising, fashion and lifestyle industries
To some, the fashion industry might seem like a daunting empire of self-obsessed fashionistas who glitz around wearing Louboutins, talking only about their favorite brand-named eyelash curler. Needless to say it’s not quite like that. Nowadays the fashion community has transcended and although the runways remain the primary vehicle for designers to showcase their work, fashion films are more important than ever before.
Therefore we proudly announce the pilot edition for the first festival in Romania placed at the crossroad between films, fashion and branding scheduled for fall 2016. The Bucharest Fashion Film Festival is teasing its enthusiasts with a curated exhibition held at the trendiest art-hub in Bucharest, Point. The exhibition will be open to the public from 27th of May until 5th of June and will be one of the most popular hotspots in the Romanian Design Week event, bringing together professionals and enthusiasts from the top creative industries. Focusing on celebrating talent and learning, BFFF is being targeted to become an open forum where the fine relationship between fashion and film is being discussed by filmmakers, producers, creative agencies, brands, labels and designers.
As a related event in the Romanian Design Week – The Many Folds of an Exquisite World- exhibition provide a sample of experimental cinema in the international fashion scene. The visitors will penetrate the core of the industry, exploring a textile dynamic maze where inside short films relevant for the fashion industry will be played in a loop.
The installation, carried out in collaboration with Cristiana Cott Negoescu – a talented multimedia artist- presents in silent cinema 12 short films made for vanguard brands in international fashion scene, including famous and promising designers.
The selection of films sums up the production of alternative aesthetics under the form of identity representation whether tangible or stylistic, generated by the postcolonial discourse or from different subcultures. Thus, through the projections and events, the festival encourages nonconformist ideas coupled with strong voices, diversity and addressing realistic representation of the industry. The projections are meant to intrigue and excite the public’s imagination, questioning the status quo of contemporary fashion.
Fashion Film Festival tackles as an open concept, covering many genres. It can be a video presentation of a designer or a brand and can have Fashion as a main character or a red wire. If the event in the Romanian Design Week focuses on international short films, the festival will include a section for feature films, documentaries, art films highlighting key moments in fashion history characters and a number of local productions related with the theme.
The grand opening of the Many Folds of an Exquisite World exhibition will take place on 27 May, starting at 19.00 in the basement of Point Art-Hub, Eremia Grigorescu Street, No.10. Following the opening, the exhibition can be publically accessed on the next weekends 28- May 29 and June 3 to 5, between 10.00 and 23.00.
